Since the client had a clear image of the style they wanted and lived in such surroundings before, a lot of research was required from our end, to make the result as authentic as possible.
Although the brief was to keep things neutral, we dared to go the extra mile and include some stylish, colourful pieces. This however required a strong attention to detail whilst also frequent checking-in with the clients to ensure that they were comfortable with this.
The Scandinavian couple wanted a space which is reminiscent of their homeland yet is still contemporary and makes sense within the apartment’s layout.
Home is truly where the heart is and although this couple were away from their friends and family in Sweden, we wanted them to feel at home, within a space which truly reverberates their identity.
The Scandinavian style is very conservative when it comes to the use of colour, and although we did keep to neutral tones, we introduced colour through bold stylistic pieces. The colour scheme was a playful use of black and white – very subtle, as is fitting with the Scandinavian culture and character. The wood-like tiles are a nod to wooden, cozy floorings in the clients’ home country.
The original layout was quite difficult to work with and required some alternations. A small bedroom was knocked done and two bathrooms were reorganized to provide further space for the kitchen and open plan. Through a series of partition walls, the originally intended laundry room was knocked down to extend one of the bedroom’s ensuite as well as to increase the space of another bathroom to include a walk-in shower.
All in all, the space turned out to be a smart and elegant sanctuary – a haven our clients can really enjoy coming home too.
