The apartment was bought in shell form, and we made a couple of structural alterations to make better use of the space available. Whilst we wanted to create a hotel-like feel, the clients were on a tight budget, so we used many off-the-shelf solutions. The process was slightly tedious as it took place in Gozo, yet we utilised our trusted suppliers and other local experts to support us on the project.
Having ample space to play with, we are quite happy with how the double-sided sofa in the living room turned out. Not only does it allow for multiple family members to spend time together, but it also emits a hotel lounge vibe and creates two spaces in one.
The intention for the apartment, found in Gozo, was as a personal summer retreat as well as an attractive property for short lets. The clients sought our help as they wanted the property to stand out on b’n’b websites yet were constrained to a budget.
Although we utilised store-bought cost-effective furniture, we looked to include pops of colour to give the property character. Enjoying beautiful country views, each room was given a quirky twist yet is entirely functional to host both young or more mature families.
Relishing the ample space within the living room, we placed a double-sided sofa, with one side facing the TV and another looking towards a beautiful, curated library and desk area. The kitchen’s layout was particularly tricky, yet we extended the kitchen top to include a comfortable dining table.
To suit the likes of a vast client base, we kept the palette rather neutral, including a mix of elegant colours and materials. The playful element is apparent in the cylindrical sink in the main bedroom, the side panelling, whilst we made clever use of space by placing a bedroom’s mirror on a track, that when moved exposes the ensuite.
