While sticking to a predefined budget, we needed to re-organise a space intended purely for storage. We set off to create a serene, bright working environment for the employees who report to these premises every day.
Natural light was scarce whilst the management desired that we segregate, to some extent, the departments through partitions, so the re-organisation of space was critical. Whilst the departments are to work cohesively, we still needed to section them off. We also increased the floor plate, by including steel constructs to bolster the current mezzanine structures.
The process was rather challenging as the employees were to keep reporting to the building whilst works were being carried out.
Providing light which emulates natural sunlight, in a space originally intended for storage. The office space is now bright and vibrant, conducive to productive work.
Dealing with the importation and distribution of fresh and frozen foodstuff, the company employs over 180 people and operates from the ‘Pinto Cold Stores’, which we were asked to refurbish.
The property, constructed before the 1700s, was initially intended to store goods for merchants visiting the nearby Valletta seaport. The premises still stores over 3,000 pellets of product, whilst providing office space for its employees.
The offices were in dire need of a refresh and a reorganization of space to allow for a better flow of every-day work life. Besides the stores, we also revamped an extension, also used for offices.
The offices were transformed into bright modern spaces, whilst the grey and steel elements served to add a touch of class and a corporate feel.
Lots of emphasis was set on the lighting and we sought the best possible solutions to create natural, warm light which closely mimics natural sunlight.
We added a touch of calm and greenery, with the inclusion of natural bamboo. This option was particularly suitable as bamboo plants can thrive with little to no natural light. They also served to section off meeting rooms to create privacy.
